Reynolds Thanks Trump Disaster Recovery Funds
Iowa Ag Connection - 12/09/2019

Gov. Kim Reynolds thanked President Donald Trump and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Ben Carson for $96.7 million in aid to help Iowa's recovery and rebuilding efforts from 2019 flooding. The grants are part of the Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery Program (CDBG-DR).

"Early 2019 brought historic and devastating flooding on both sides of Iowa," said Reynolds. "So many of those communities and families hit hardest are still working to get their lives back to normal. This strong and much-needed response from the Trump Administration ensures Iowans have access to critical federal funds in a timely manner. We're grateful to President Trump, Secretary Carson and the entire team for supporting this on-going recovery effort."

In June, Trump signed legislation providing $2.4 billion to support relief efforts for natural disasters in 2018-19. CDBG-DR grants support a variety of disaster recovery activities including housing redevelopment and rebuilding, business assistance, economic revitalization and infrastructure repair.
