Iowa Ag Connection - 03/13/2018

Gov. Kim Reynolds, along with Lt. Gov. Adam Gregg and Iowa Finance Authority (IFA) Executive Director Dave Jamison launched House Wise Iowa, a promotion spearheaded by IFA and the Iowa Association of REALTORS.

The goal of House Wise Iowa is to educate Iowans about the process of purchasing a home and the resources available to them, including the new 2018 Mortgage Credit Certificate Program. Iowans also have a chance to win prizes, including a wiser home.

"Just last week, Iowa was named the best state in the country by U.S. News and World Report," Gov. Reynolds said. "The Best States report also ranked Iowa as number two for housing. This confirms what we already know: the dream of home ownership is well within reach for many Iowans."

The House Wise Iowa promotion offers Iowans a chance to win one of two wise home packages, as well as bonus prizes like grocery gift cards. Any Iowan age 18 or older is eligible to participate by visiting iowafinanceauthority.gov and entering the sweepstakes through June 30, 2018.

"Education is vital for Iowans facing one of the largest financial decisions they'll make in their lifetime," Lt. Gov. Gregg said. "I'm pleased the House Wise Iowa promotion will link home buyers with the programs designed to help them, including the new Mortgage Credit Certificate Program."

The 2018 Mortgage Credit Certificate Program allows eligible Iowans to purchase a home and reduce their federal income tax liability by up to $2,000 a year for the life of their mortgage. The program is administered by the Iowa Finance Authority.
