Trail Enthusiasts Gather June 12 in Cedar Falls

Trail users, developers and community leaders will gather to discuss Iowa's recreational trails during the Iowa Trails Summit, June 12 at the University of Northern Iowa's Center for Energy and Environmental Education in Cedar Falls.

Iowa writer, biker and trail advocate, Chuck Offenburger will serve as master of ceremonies for the summit, and more than 20 speakers will share their experiences and ideas for the future of Iowa trails. Special presentations will be made on new trail attractions in the state.

The Iowa Trails Summit has been recognized nationally for its unique approach to development, promotion and use of Iowa's trails. The event draws hikers, paddlers, cyclists, cross country skiers and OHV users from around the state.

In addition to the summit, two optional training sessions will be offered at the conference site June ll. One session will focus on understanding and implementing the U.S. National Grid used to identify a location without a traditional address. The other session will explore ways to improve use and appreciation of Iowa's river corridors.

Cost of the summit is $45 and includes parking, lunch and snacks. Cost of the optional June 11 training is the same.
