Iowa Retail Gas Prices Relatively Steady

Iowa retail gasoline and diesel prices remained steady this week, closing at $2.29 and $2.35 per gallon, respectively.

The price of global crude oil rose this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $1.00 per barrel over last week, and is currently priced at $49.50.

Brent crude oil rose $.94, and is currently priced at $50.21.

One year ago WTI crude sold for $58.33 and Brent crude was at $59.03.

As of Tuesday, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $2.29 across Iowa according to AAA. This is the same price as one week ago and $.43 lower than one year ago. The national average on Tuesday was $2.29, $.03 lower than last week.

Retail diesel fuel prices in Iowa held steady with a statewide average of $2.35. One year ago diesel prices averaged $2.70 in Iowa. The current Iowa diesel average is $.02 lower than the national average of $2.37.

Wholesale ethanol prices held steady this week, closing at $1.60.

The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $1.45 for U87-E10, $1.67 for Unleaded 87 (clear), ULSD#2 is at $1.54, ULSD#1 is at $1.70, and E-70 is priced at $1.72 per gallon.

Natural Gas prices were $.10 higher at the Henry Hub reporting site and ended the week at $2.86/MMbtu.
