Northey to Visit Nine Counties Today, Thursday

Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey Tuesday announced that he will be making stops in Des Moines, Cedar, Clinton, Johnson, Appanoose, Davis, Wapello, Monroe and Marion Counties on Wednesday and Thursday.

On Wednesday, Northey will visit the Des Moines County Fair in West Burlington, participate in conversations on the state of the ag economy in Tipton and De Witt and participate in the Johnson County 4-H's Celebrity Calf Show in Iowa City. On Thursday Northey will greet RAGBRAI riders at the conservation tent near Moravia, meet with members of the Davis County Cattlemen in Bloomfield, visit the Ottumwa Chamber of Commerce booth for RAGBRAI riders, visit with members of the Monroe County Cattlemen in Albia and speak at the Marion County Farm Bureau Ag in the City dinner in Pella.

Wednesday

Des Moines County -- 10:30 a.m., attend the Des Moines County Fair, 1015 S. Gear Ave., West Burlington

Cedar County -- 1:30 p.m., participate in a discussion on the ag economy, Cedar County Farm Bureau office, 1327 Cedar St., Tipton

Clinton County -- 3:30 p.m., participate in a discussion on the ag economy, First Central State Bank, 914 6th Ave., De Witt

Johnson County -- 6 p.m., participate in the Johnson County 4-H's Celebrity Calf Show, Johnson County Fair, 4261 Oak Crest Hill Rd. SE, Iowa City

Thursday

Appanoose County -- 9 a.m., greet RAGBRAI riders, Conservation Tent, 11985 267th Ave/Hwy J3T, Moravia

Davis County -- 11 a.m., meet with members of the Davis County Cattlemen, Cattlemen's Building at the Davis County Fairgrounds, 20471 Old Hwy 2, Bloomfield

Wapello County -- 1 p.m., greet RAGBRAI riders at the Ottumwa Chamber of Commerce Booth, Corner of Johnson and Chester, Ottumwa

Monroe County -- 2:45 p.m., meet with members of the Monroe County Cattlemen, White Buffalo, 100 Hwy 34 E, Albia

Marion County -- 6 p.m., speak at the Marion County Farm Bureau Ag in the City , Farm Bureau tent on the southeast corner of the town square, Pella

Northey, a corn and soybean farmer from Spirit Lake, is serving his third term as Secretary of Agriculture. His priorities as Secretary of Agriculture are promoting the use of science and new technologies to better care for our air, soil and water, and reaching out to tell the story of Iowa agriculture.
